Rich smoke rises with warming notes of sweet dark balsamic resin, evolving into toasted marshmallow covered wood. The unique fragrance lingers for hours and is associated with the most powerful metaphysical properties of any incense. Calming, cleansing, clearing, and centering, just to name a few.
Grade A agarwood is thicker than our Grade AAA, and because of that, it's easier to use over a flame without it catching fire. It does get a woody smell after the resins burn off, where the AAA doesn't because it's almost pure resin.
Our grade A Agarwood will fill your space with gently powerful long lasting scent, it's highly resinous and extremely fragrant when burned. Best when heated gently, great on an incense charcoal, or even with a flame if you're careful.
Agarwood has been used as incense for at least 3500 years, and is known by many different names, such as oud wood, aloeswood, eagle wood, kingwood, kyara, and many other names. It is the rarest of all incense and requires a unique natural process to come into being. An Aquilaria tree must reach maturity, then get infected by a parasitic fungus, the tree will build a resin barrier to keep the infection from spreading, and over time the resins will build up enough to become incense. Only this thin resonated barrier is used as incense, the infected wood is removed, as well as the non resonated wood.
Sustainably and ethically sourced Aquilaria crassna from Vietnam. You will not find a higher quality plantation grown agarwood anywhere.
We only source from plantations because wild agarwood trees are highly endangered.
